Masslive.com – The Chicopee city firefighters faced off with Chicopee police in the city’s annual charity hockey game Saturday night.

Hundreds of people came out to the Fitzpatrick Arena on Maple Street in Holyoke to watch the game, enjoy food and participate in raffles.

The proceeds of the event, which last year went to Lorraine’s Soup Kitchen, will this year go to the Boys & Girls Club of Chicopee.

Doug Lambert, a sergeant with the Chicopee police department and one of the organizers for the event, said that the game raised around $5,000.

The money came from raffle and merchandise sales, and from donations from players and attendees, Lambert said.

Raffle prizes included a 50 inch Smart TV, hand made fire and police crocheted blankets, gift baskets for children and adults and other items. Attendees could also buy honorary game pucks and T Shirts.

Sponsors for the event include the Polish National Credit Union, IBPO Local 401 and 440, Pilgrim Interiors, Furnari Jewelers, Train 4 Life, GG Inks, Moose Family Center 1849, the Westfield Bank, PFFM Local 1710, and Sign Techniques.
